Feldthurns, Trentino-South Tyrol
In the Valle Aurina, at the foot of the Picco Palù, there is a farm in the heart of Acereto with a dairy that is almost half a millennium old: the Moarhof. Not only is it one of the oldest in the area, it is also the home of Roland and Claudia Eder. The Eder family share their 5 hectares of land with 1 dog, 6 cats, 10 cows and 16 chickens. The small number of hectares allows Claudia and Roland to carefully observe every element that influences the quality of their products. The specialities of the Moarhof farm are farmer's butter and the incomparable Aurina Valley Graukäse, a cheese speciality made from the buttermilk left over from butter production. All Moarhof products are marked with the Red Rooster label and the proximity between product and place of origin could not be more immediate: milk from their own cows is strictly used, as species-appropriate husbandry and animal welfare are the main ingredients for the proven Moarhof quality.
