It is one of the oldest and most typical products of the Vesuvian area, a fundamental ingredient of Campania's cuisine. The 'pomodorino del piennolo' PDO is grown using supports made from wooden stakes that allow the fruit not to touch the ground and to receive the sun's rays evenly. Rich in vitamins and mineral salts, it has great versatility in the kitchen: it can be used purely as a pasta sauce, on pizza or as an ingredient in recipes for main courses and fillings.
